Felted Soap Project
by Kim Chatel, author or Rainbow Sheep

This project is suitable for children of all ages,
with adult supervision.

What you’ll need:
1 bar of your favorite soap (for young children, try using the small hotel-sized soaps)
2 ounces of wool roving in any color (Merino or Corriedale wool is best) An old nylon stocking
A large bowl of warm water

Wrap the soap in the wool roving, making sure that it is well covered.

Tuck the wool-covered soap into the toe of the nylon. Tie a knot in the nylon just above the soap. Wet the soap and nylon in warm water. This can be done in a bowl or in a sink. Rub the soap through the nylon until you get a good lather. Continue rubbing for 5-10 minutes until the wools shrinks around the soap. Rinse it in cold water and lay it out to dry.

Now you have soap in a felt facecloth! When you take a bath, just wet it to bring out the lather again.
