The mourning dove cries.
The sun’s coming up,
So open your eyes.
T-t-tap, t-t-tap,
The woodpeckers say.
Can’t you see, can’t you see
It’s a brand new day?
C-c-caw, c-c-caw
Beckons the crow.
It’s time to get up.
Don’t you know, don’t you know?
“Yes I know! Yes I know!”
I say with a leap,
Till Mommy calls out,
“Honey, go back to sleep!”
